Description

A festive baked brie wrapped in puff pastry and topped with homemade cranberry-orange sauce, honey, and toasted nuts.


Ingredients

  • 12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 (8-ounce) wheel brie cheese
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional)
  • Assorted crackers
  • Toasted baguette slices

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the cranberries, sugar, orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes until thickened, then cool completely.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and unfold puff pastry onto sheet.
  3. Place brie in center, top with 1/2 cup cranberry mixture, drizzle with honey, and sprinkle nuts.
  4. Fold pastry over brie, seal seams, flip seam-side down. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle coarse sugar.
  5. Bake 25 to 28 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Rest 5 minutes before serving with crackers and baguette.
