Description

This Beef and Cheese Lasagna is a comforting dish with layers of rich beef, creamy cheese, and tender pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Ground Beef (Lean)
  • 1 Onion (Finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (Minced)
  • 15 ounces Tomato Sauce (Quality, thick)
  • 15 ounces Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese (Shredded)
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese (Grated)
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley (Chopped)
  • 9 Lasagna Noodles (No-boil preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon Salt (For boiling noodles)
  • 1 cup Extra Mozzarella (For cheesy crust)
  • to taste Fresh Basil Leaves (For garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, warm olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook until onions turn translucent and fragrant, about 3–4 minutes.
  2. Crumble ground beef into the skillet, stirring to break up meat. Cook until fully browned with no pink, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Pour in tomato sauce and crushed tomatoes. Stir in Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle bubble before reducing heat.
  4. Lower heat to medium-low. Let sauce cook uncovered for 15–20 minutes. Stir occasionally until it thickens slightly and flavors meld.
  5. In a bowl, combine ricotta, egg, chopped parsley, half the Parmesan, and a pinch of salt. Stir until creamy and smooth.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly oil a 9×13-inch baking dish, ensuring layers won’t stick.
  7. Spread a thin sauce layer in dish. Alternate noodles, sauce, dollops of ricotta mixture, and shredded mozzarella. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil, sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan, then bake 10–15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let lasagna stand for 10 minutes before slicing. This cooling time helps set layers, making each slice hold together beautifully.
