Description

Create spooky Halloween chocolate pretzel spider webs for a delightful and creepy treat. This recipe is easy to make and perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag (12 oz) pretzel rods
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 4 oz white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or shortening plus extra if needed
  • Black sanding sugar or black sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. If the chocolate is too thick, add a little more oil, about 1 teaspoon at a time, until it reaches a drizzling consistency.
  3. Dip each pretzel rod into the melted semi-sweet chocolate, coating about two-thirds of the pretzel. Let any excess chocolate drip back into the bowl. Place the coated pretzels on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until the white chocolate is melted and smooth. Add more oil if needed to achieve a drizzling consistency.
  5. Using a spoon or a piping bag with a small tip, drizzle the melted white chocolate over the semi-sweet chocolate coating on the pretzels in a spider web pattern. Create concentric circles, then drag a toothpick from the center outwards to form the web design.
  6. If using, immediately sprinkle the black sanding sugar or black sprinkles onto the wet white chocolate to enhance the spooky effect.
  7. Let the chocolate pretzels set completely. You can place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes to speed up the process.
  8. Once set, your spooky Halloween chocolate pretzels are ready to serve!

Notes

  • Ensure your bowls and utensils are completely dry when melting chocolate, as water can cause chocolate to seize.
  • For a smoother drizzle, you can thin the white chocolate slightly more.
  • Experiment with different colored chocolates and sprinkles for varied spooky designs.
  • Store the finished chocolate pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature.
