Easy Honey Oat Dessert Squares that melt in your mouth.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup pure honey
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Press half of the oat mixture into the prepared pan.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes until edges turn golden.
  5. Melt butter and honey in a small saucepan. Whisk in vanilla after removing from heat.
  6. Pour honey mixture over baked base and sprinkle remaining oats on top. Bake another 12–15 minutes.
  7. Cool completely, then slice into 12 bars.
  8. Optionally, sprinkle sea salt flakes on top.
