Description

This Ham and Cheese Pasta Bake is a creamy, comforting dish perfect for families and gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz Dry pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • 2 cups Cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 Tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 cups Milk (whole or 2%)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and black pepper
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup Extra shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the penne until al dente, about 8–10 minutes. Drain well and set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until bubbling and fragrant, about 1–2 minutes without letting it brown.
  3. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk briskly for about 30 seconds until it forms a pale roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the sauce thickens, about 3–4 minutes.
  5. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan until smooth.
  6. Season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  7. In a lightly greased baking dish, toss the cooked pasta and diced ham with the cheese sauce.
  8. Evenly sprinkle the breadcrumbs and extra shredded cheese over the pasta.
  9. Place the dish in a preheated oven at 375°F and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the top is bubbly and golden brown.
