Description

This Devil’s Food Protein Cake offers the nostalgic taste of classic devil’s food cake with a healthy twist, packed with protein and low in sugar. It’s a moist, intensely chocolatey treat perfect for fitness enthusiasts and chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup chocolate whey protein powder
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ cup apple sauce (unsweetened)
  • ¼ cup egg whites
  • 1 tbsp coconut flour
  • ⅓ cup almond milk (unsweetened)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp granulated stevia or preferred sweetener

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease a 4-inch mini cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the chocolate whey protein powder, cocoa powder, coconut flour, baking soda, and stevia until evenly combined.
  3. Pour in the almond milk, egg whites, vanilla extract, and applesauce. Stir well until a smooth, thick batter forms.
  4. Pour the batter into your prepared pan. Smooth the top with a spatula for an even bake.
  5. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  6. Let the cake rest for 10 minutes, then carefully release it from the pan.
  7. Slice and enjoy as is, or top with Greek yogurt frosting or melted dark chocolate.

Notes

  • This cake is best enjoyed the day it’s made.
  • Stores well for up to 3 days in the fridge.
  • For a more indulgent version, layer with high-protein frosting or spread with nut butter.
  • For a dairy-free option, use plant-based chocolate protein powder and oat or soy milk.
